About the Author:
John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California in 1902. Steinbeck went to Stanford University, although he didn't get a degree since he thought he didn't want anything that he didn't need to have. He has written many amazing, well-known books such as Of Mice and Men, Travels with Charley in search of America. He won a Nobel Prize in 1962. Sadly, this amazing author died in 1968. --A pearl is a shiny, valued object in which can be found in the Persian Gulf, the South Pacific, the Gulf of Mannar, the Gulf of California, and the Gulf of Mexico. Real pearls, or natural pearls, are formed by oysters, while the artificial ones can be hand-crafted for many objects.. The likelihood of finding a pearl is 1 in 12,000.

--Mexico, the country, is located in North America. In colonial times, Mexico was known as New Spain. Many different cultures and religions started going to Mexico. Since there were no such thing as vehicles, such as cars, trains, etc., the people who lived in Mexico traveled around different places on horse backs. They had many different shops and food markets. It was considered a "small country" since many people knew each other.

--La Paz, Mexico is the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. La Paz is known for being a peaceful city with exceptional weather. There are many wonderful, exciting things you can do in this amazing city. There are beautiful beaches you can visit. You can also do many fun-filled activities (2nd link under Sources contains different places). A cool fact about this name is La Paz is Spanish for "Peace". After hearing about this myself, I would love to visit La Paz, Mexico someday.

--The Baja Peninsula's land mass separates the Pacific Ocean from the Gulf of California. Archeologists have said that the peninsula was separated from mainland Mexico by the San Andreas Fault. Baja Peninsula are mountains, witch ring an inhospitable, rocky and hot desert landscape.
